Torrwood Gardening Project on 28th October 2014

Torrwoods is a residential care home in Wells and through a Somerset County Council Health & Wellbeing Fund award Growing Roots worked with volunteer police cadets to clear and plant flower beds for the residents to enjoy in the spring and summer. Plants were chosen to suit those residents with dementia. Plants were non-toxic with scents and colours to stimulate senses and memories. Several of the residents came to view the work in progress and take advantage of the unusually fine weather and one accompanied us with his wonderful and moving singing!
